Listening To Your Body’s Wisdom

May 4, 2019 @ 10:00 am - May 5, 2019 @ 4:30 pm

Through structure, posture, gesture, impulse and sensation the body reveals the psyche.
Hakomi is sometimes referred to as ‘Body-Centered Therapy” and indeed our founder Ron Kurtz’s first book was entitled The Body Reveals (written with Rolfer Hector Prestera). In Hakomi we study how the body’s structures and habitual patterns become a powerful doorway to unconscious core material, including the hidden core beliefs that shape our lives, relationships, and self-images. Specifically, in this workshop we will study structure, posture, gestures and impulses as encoded in the nervous system (implicit memories).
By working with direct experience, Hakomi methods quickly access core material, allowing it to emerge safely into consciousness. Once
conscious, it can be re-evaluated, and where appropriate, powerfully
transformed. New dimensions of awareness can be integrated, helping the individual to build a more satisfying and effective life.
Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychology combines the Eastern traditions of mindfulness and non-violence with a unique, highly effective methodology utilized by psychotherapists, pastoral counselors, movement therapists, art therapists, coaches, social workers, bodyworkers and somatic educators.
